The RS1800 was based on the two door, front wheel drive MK3 Fiesta XR2i.

The Engine

The RS1800 engine was a 1.8 litre in-line four cylinder, four stroke, 16-Valve unit with twin overhead camshafts, named the Zetec. The Zetec was one of the last variants of engine to be used in a RS and had a number of weight saving features. The twin overhead camshafts were driven via belt from the crankshaft.

The engine was normally aspirated and although produced good power failed to win the hearts of RS supporters.

Note: The Fiesta RS1800 was produced on J to M-registration plates in the UK.
